Nearly half the youth in the U.S. are growing up fatherless.  We don’t use the word epidemic lightly.  Take a look at our culture and it’s easy to see that there is a problem.  Without a father in a child’s life, a boy doesn’t know what it means to be a man of integrity.  He doesn’t see first hand how to treat a woman and he doesn’t see the benefits of hard work and discipline.  For a young girl growing up without a father, she will never see how a man is supposed to treat her.  Rather, she will see what t.v. and media feeds her.  She may struggle with her own self-worth when her father is not there to tell her how beautiful she is and all the potential he sees in her.  Many of us take this small words for granted but they are words that a child needs to thrive.  We applaud the single moms that are working so hard to provide for their children and give them a good life but they can never fill all the voids that a father leaves.Life on Life mentoring is the foundation of Center for Champions’ mission.  Life on Life mentoring is when a Christian adult completes Center for Champions’ training process and is then matched with a student.  Once matched, mentors and mentees meet together weekly for 2-3 hours for a 1-year commitment.  Matches are assigned a Match Manager to help the match along the way and to help celebrate milestones.

Life on Life mentoring is the foundation of Center for Champions’ mission.  Life on Life mentoring is when a Christian adult completes Center for Champions’ training process and is then matched with a student.  A mentor can never replace a parent but a mentor can take steps to fill those voids and provide the words that a child needs to hear like, “I’m proud of you.”  Once matched, mentors and mentees meet together weekly for 2-3 hours for a 1-year commitment. Matches are assigned a Match Manager to help the match along the way and to help celebrate milestones.  Whether the match lasts 1 year, 5 years or 10 years, mentors and mentees are friends for life.  Mentoring is a slow and steady approach to bringing at-risk and fatherless youth the hope and encouragement they desperately need.  The sacrifice of your time can bring about a new path for a child that will overflow for future generations.

Center for Champions does Life on Life mentoring because long-term change happens through relationships!  Would you like to join our team and be a Life on Life mentor?
